Grade R

Our school is a preparatory school that specializes in Foundation Phase education. We have seven Grade R classes. We are a parallel-medium school for learners from an English or Afrikaans home language background.
The Grade R classes have their own play area that is equipped to appropriately develop the holistic needs of five/six year olds. They also have their own ablution facilities. The Grade R classes conclude their year with a special graduation ceremony promoting them to the higher grades.
Each experienced teacher is supported by a class assistant. We boast a playground that is constantly evolving and progressing.
Within an enriched daily and weekly program, learners have ample opportunity to develop language, mathematics and perceptual skills. They have the opportunity to be creative, value music and develop gross- and fine motor skills.

Grade 1-3

We are a parallel-medium, multi-cultural school.

We have two Music teachers who offer private music lessons to our learners.
Our school choir participates and performs annually in the Music Montage and Eisteddfod.
Every third year we offer a concert where mass participation is encouraged.

Homework

Homework is an important aspect in the education of your child. The purpose of homework is to:

  • establish links between school and home
  • enable a child to master and reinforce the content of schoolwork already learnt in the classroom
  • assist learners in developing resourcefulness
  • supply an additional outlet for reading, enrichment and extension
  • allow pupils an opportunity to complete work they could not finish at school.

Raising tomorrow’s leaders since 1951

At George Preparatory School our aim is to grow and prepare our learners for the life to come and guide them to adulthood so they can one day fulfill their place in society.
